John Rubin Mort This line is generally from the Emmitsburg area. Suggestions of ties to this family are: 1) Recall that John Emory Mort, son of William Mort & Mary Cain, referred to the Charles Mort in this line as 'cousin.' 2) Annie Mort, wife to John Martin Mort, recalls that John's family used to go visit Virgie, daughter to William Mort & Mary Cain and felt that there was a family connection. This was by horse and buggy and no short distance. No other evidence is apparent and generally other information conflicts with a direct relationship. A family tradition for this line is that John Rubin Mort was born on the ship coming from Germany. |
