Note*   John Paul Seal(S) The name SEAL(s) has been interchangeably spelled with or without S ending. The earliest record of the Seal family is with John Paul Seals, an English school teacher. In 1752, the ship 'Two Brothers', left Rotterdam bringing a number of German settlers to the 'New Land'. Since the ship was carrying immigrants to an English Colony, the ship was required to first register in Cowes, England. It was here that John Peter Seals came aboard. Upon arrival, September 15, 1752 at Philadelphia, the male passengers over sixteen years of age were required to go to the court house and declare their fidelity to the King of Great Britain. John Seals, even though he was English, as part of a German immigration also signed the Oath of Allegiance. The German settlers went to Hundterdon County, New Jersey, a dominantly German Region, John Seals settled in the town of High Bridge, New Jersey. Those Seals that remained in New Jersey congregated in and around Lebanon Township area of Hunterdon Co. notes: 1. John Seals of England, came to America in Sept. 15, 1752 on the ship 'Two Brothers'. 2. Members of the original Passengers from Rotterdam were three generations of Blooms, John Peter Bloom Sr.& Jr., and William. 3. The ship 'Two Brothers' carried 101 men of age sixteen and up. Total number of immigrants, including women and children was around 300. 4. From New Jersey the Seals migrated to Ill. and Rosa Belle Seal married John E. Mort of Md. From New Jersey the Blooms migrated to Clearfield Co.,Pa. Decedent Wava Bloom later resided in Fayette Co., Pa. 180 years after their ancestors came to the 'new world', John R. Mort Sr. of Md. met and married Wava Bloom of Fayette Co. Pa.
